European Union
The EU contributes to the sustainable exploitation of Central Africa's natural resources with a view to mitigating and adapting to climate change and preserving global public goods. These include biodiversity and the Congo Basin forest.
For several years, the EU has relied on protected areas to promote a territorial approach to local development, in which preservation of natural resources and economic diversification form a win-win alliance.
Thus in the DRC, with financial support from the European Union, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and its partners are implementing the FORETS (Training, Research and Environment in Tshopo), YPS (Yangambi Pole Scientifique) projects. and NPC (New Landscapes of Congo) in the Yangambi landscape (approx. 800,000 ha with the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve at its center) aimed at the preservation, restoration and improvement of biodiversity and the living environment of the populations.
